Windows 7 and IE8

I had windows XP. I have installed Windows7 and now 9 times out of ten I cannot put a web page/site into Favourites. I get a message "Unable to create................ Unspecified error"

I have never come across this before. Can anyone help?

Hi Jimmy, no I didn't update a printer driver but I did "install" a new HP printer and, of course, its driver. As you can see MS sorted the registry problem and they said it was probably due to an add-on or a programme I added. Why do you ask?

How did you install Windows 7? Did you perform a custom installation and transfer your files from Windows.old or have you performed a completely clean install on a formatted hard drive?

Also, please note that when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 you will not have an "in place upgrade" option. You will however have the option to select "custom" install when prompted. The Windows 7 install process will then copy all of your data in "My Documents" over to a Windows.old folder within Windows 7 itself. All applications and documents stored in other locations will have to be reinstalled / transferred manually.

Thank you Jessica. I had help from MS (India) and it turned out to be a registry fault, which wories me a bit. I also have shut downs occuring for absolutely no obvious reasons. Sometimes the PC reboots automatically; sometimes it doesn't and I have to reboot.
