Laptop and mouse freezes 5 minutes after start up

Hi, hope you can help I'm going around in circles to try and sort out this problem.

Acer Aspire 5738Z Vista Home Basic
Intel Pentium dual core processor T4200

I've had it since July 09 and everything was fine til about 3-4 weeks ago - progs load on start up then laptop and mouse freezes for 5 minutes, after that everything is up and running. (I hadn't installed new programs or software just before problems started so think that's not the problem) I've scanned and run spyware check and no probs there. I tried to use system restore but it's only showing recent dates and there's nowhere I can put in a date so I can restore to before probs started. By the way, don't know if it's relevant, but couple of weeks before probs started my facebook account was hacked into so had to change password! Hope you can help .... thanks very much.

I'd make the call.

At July 09 it's still in warranty so make that call and follow the directions. I bet they will have you reload the OS so let's see if you are ready.
