cannot open .JPG files

by HouseofMagic247 - 7/23/09 9:39 PM

I recently bought a Kingston Data Traveler 150 and tried to transfer some pictures that I had stored on my Dell Dimension 2400 desktop computer to the flash drive. I inserted the flash drive into an open USB port and waited for it to be recognized. I then cut the picture folders I wanted to move and opened the flash drive and pasted them there. It said that they were transfered successfully. However, now when I plug in the flash drive and try to open the pictures with any program they can't be opened.

If I try to open them in Windows Photo Gallery, it say "Photo Gallery can't open this picture or video. This file format is not supported, or you don't have the lastest updates to Photo Gallery." When I try to open this with Paint I get this message: "Paint cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported."

I am wondering if anyone knows any way to recover these photos, seeing as I was dumb enough to cut instead of the originals on the desktop are gone now sad

I have tried everything I can think of...I've tried multiple programs and multiple computers, but alas nothing works. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on this matter. Thanks in advance!
