Touchpad interference?

When trying to use a laptop in my bedroom the touchpad refuses to work properly. This occurs everywhere within my bedroom except the corner furthest from the window (and even then the touchpad has its moments). I can move to any other room in the house and the phenomenon does not exist. When in the room, trying to move the touchpad will cause the mouse pointer to jump up and down very sporadically and will resist most attempts to move it horizontally. At times the mouse pointer will jump up and down the screen by itself with nothing near the touchpad. It seems to get worse the closer I come to the window of the room.
I have experienced this with three laptops so far (each that I have used in the room) including two hp and one sager. Wireless mice and usb mice work fine.
I know that touchpads work using the capacitance of the finger, but this is baffling me. Is their a nexus of electromagnetivity swirling around my bedroom?
