i am using Internet explorer - 8. i want to restrict the usage of internet and allow access to only one site. how should i go about it

To do this varies with the OS and is not assured unless you dig in deep. For most it's as simple as disabling the DNS entries in the TCPIP settings and adding that one site to your HOSTS file.

It's slightly technical and if you ask how, then you are not ready to do this.

You Don't Mention Specific But 'Content Advisory' Will Do It

The "Content Advisor" is built into Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8 and isn't the perfect solution for all situations, but if you have a single computer where newbies are using the machine, and you have the ability to require the use of "limited user" logins, PLUS block the registry editor from being used except by you, it is possible to use the Content Advisor to prevent Internet Explorer from accessing all sites on the internet exept for one.. Other access requires a password.

As mentioned, it's not a perfect solution for business or multiple user situations, but it can work for some situations.
