Computer help forum: Canon Scanner Software Choices

I have a Canon scanner model CanoScan N670U that ran perfectly on my older Win 98SE computer. Now I added a new, faster computer using Win XP.

However, I cannot find the original software CD that came with the scanner. So I went to the one of the official Canon websites and saw they have a list of software for this scanner and WinXP.

I downloaded the CanonScan Toolbox (shown below). However, I did not download any separate drivers or other software. I figured the Toolbox would include everything.

I just extracted and ran the .exe file that came with the Canon toolbox. I manually put a scanner icon on my desktop and when I click the icon, a scanner menu with "scan, OCR, and other options" opens (I guess this is the toolbox?).

However, I still cant scan. When I try a test scan, the scanner toolbox menu opens and asks saved scanned image to (Filename) and type of image (gif, jpg, etc).

Then, a small menu window (with "Browse") asks me to select the location to save the scanned image. Finally, another menu window asks me to Link scanned images to (example: an image editing program ).

When I click the SCAN button, I get an information pop-up message saying Specifies the program where the scanned image is transferred. The scanner wont start.

Question: Besides the Toolbox already downloaded, do I need to download /load the driver(s) to my computer separately?

From the list of available software shown below, what do you think I should download and load on my computer to make the scanner run? Also, should the needed software/drivers be loaded in any particular order? Thanks much.
