Can't find partition in my computer

I have a Compaq Presario 5510 running Vista Home Premium with SP1. It came with a 500GB Hard Drive. I partitioned 100GB to clone my old Windows XP Hard Drive to using DriveImage XML. (Iconverted it into an external HD.) About 10 minutes into the cloning process, the power went out in the neighborhood. After restarting the computer, I can't find the partition im Computer or even with DOS prompt, and my C drive now shows 357GB (the factory image is 10GB). I hope I have enough info here.

How can I recover the lost partition? If I use teh recovery disks, will that set it back to the original 500GB? All of my documents are backed up already, so I'm not worried about those. I am not very computer savvy, but I have patience and two weeks with X-mas break.

I ran hardware diagnostics and everything passed.
