Log-in trouble

I recently was gifted with an 8yr old Compaq Armada-700 laptop. Along the way, somebody has installed XP in this old beauty. I was the 5th "owner", and the 4th asked me to remove their name/password from the log-in, but in attempting to do so, I somehow erased the password(but NOT the name) AND now I can not get passed the log-in page! The pc is not worth much,but if anybody knows if there's a way to get around that log-in, I would appreciate the help. Thanks!

I did try to work with NTPassword, but my skills just were not up to the task. A friend wiped the drive clean for me, then reinstalled XP and everything is fine. Thanks again.

The NTPASSWD WALKTHROUGH at http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/walkthrough.html shows every thing you'll see and the answers needed to reset the password.

Almost no skill required. And it's free.
