Laptop monitor is dim & Video Decodder disappeared

My Sony Vaio laptop monitor all of a sudden got very dim today and I also discovered that the video decoder (InterVideo) has disappeared. I watch DVD movies a lot and have never had a problem before.

I've rebooted the system a couple of times and all of my updates are up to date.

Sony Vaio Laptop - VGN FE770G - Windows Media/XP

The friends I've discussed this with tell me that this is a sign that my laptop is dying. It's only 2 years old!!

What should I do?

Try extending the warranty.

Laptop repairs can be expensive.

As to DVD play, you either reinstall your DVD software or use VLC PLAYER (see google.com)
