I'm a computer know nothing

Hello-I'm a computer user that uses one for email & web surfing but I have no (emphasis on NO) computer set up/troubleshooting experience.
I am going on my 1st business trip & taking my laptop (a Lenovo) to Miami which has in room wireless.
My question is:Will I be able to also set up my computer by USB cable & how will it run on their server?
-IF NOT:how do I set up my laptop for wireless use?
