Word '07 randomly closes

I just recently discovered a problem with my Microsoft Word 2007.

Situation:
I have the word program running and I'm using it just fine. However, whenever I open any sort of program that was not already open before i started word, word would just exit itself without saving any of my work.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows XP SP3.

Can anyone help me fix this problem?

Installed The Most Recent SP1 For MS Office/Word?

If not, download the file from the link below and then run it to install SP1. (Yep, it's a large file so you'll need broadband or a friend that has broadband.) After installing the service pack, then visit the Office Updates site and install all other Office 2007 updates as well.

I've heard of this issue on Office 2007 before.. Be sure to save documents frequently. In addition, if you're using "Paperport", try removing any Paperport COM add-ins from Word. There may be other add-ins which could cause the issue as well..
