Laptop Monitor is Black on right side of screen

System info: Toshiba MX35 laptop, Running Windows XP
My laptop was working fine, until I got home from class and turned it on to get a big black band on the right side of the monitor with a small stripe running thru it. Along the bottom are a bunch of gray bands as well. I have no clue what the problem is - can anyone help??

I did just get it back a week ago from having it worked on, and can't help but wonder if something was done to it then. I was having the power connection in the back of the laptop worked on - don't know exactly what they did, but receipt shows they replaced the system board. Not sure if this would have anything to do with my problem or not. Of course my extended warranty expired just a few days ago

I have taken some pics and uploaded them in case that helps (the monitor looks bluer in the pics than it really is - the colors are actually ok)

If they recently worked on it, they may have jolted the LCD ribbon cable and it needs reseating or replacement.

Graphics/Display Starting To Go Bad...?Lines in the monitor usually preclude problems.. STart by checking the screen resolution to make sure it's correct. Next, look for an updated driver and install it.. It can sometimes rectify the problem for a while..

I've got an old Windows ME computer which has good days and bad days. The graphics are headed out... Some days it will start just fine.. Others, it looks worse than your pictures.. Multiple colored lines.. Parts of the screen turning black..
