I have a real doozy here....

Recently as a household we got cable broadband. We connected two computers to it. While messing around one day I figured out I could connect my room mate's laptop to it using an ethernet cable.
However he has Windows NT and I am not familiar with that OS at all.
He had never been hooked up to the internet, ever. So I downloaded AVG virus free virus scan and gave him instructions to periodically check for intrusions.
Within a week he is so infested that his system is starting to run afoul.
For one thing, pop-ups everywhere. Some of them pornographic. He is a pastor, so this is not good. SO I installed a pop-up blocker. Then windows started appearing that said they were "pop-unders". What the heck is a "pop-under"!!!? And how do I get rid of it.
Amid all this crisis, he has also lost his Control panel. I have searched for it everywhere and cannot get it to surface. As a consequence when I go to properties to look at the computer specs it tells me that that action has been restricted.
I have never had this much chaos.
BTW AVG found trojans on his computer. About 30 in all.
I can't give you any specs except that it has windows 2000 NT professional.
Any help with any of these issues will be greatly appreciated.
