Running XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 2 Computer 2 years old.
On start up Popups - "Found New Hardware SCAN" followed by F.N.H.Wizard window- "Could not find new S/ware for SCAN on Comp" Connect and search on net- "Cannot find S/ware Online" Repeated freezing with message "Windows has encountered a problem and must close" The following have appeared one time ."DR Watsons Postmortem Debugger has eap and needs to close" "Generic Host Process for Win 32 Service has eap and needs to close" "XD Module has to close" "Runtime Error 203 @ 5A00Z 4D8" "The system is recovering from a serious error. Problemm caused by Device Driver". The AVG will not install it tries to start and then stops after a few seconds. Dustyman

You could try rebooting into Safe Mode, then running scans using your Spyware Doctor program while in Safe Mode:

Another option is to download and run HijackThis from the link below, then post the resulting log to an appropriate forum listed in the link for help.. The CNET forums don't interpret HJT logs so please don't post them about this:

Another option, if you have good backups to all your important documents.. AND ... if you have a Recovery Partition or Recovery CD for the computer... is to do a complete reformat and reinstall of the computer.. It may sound premature, but frequently, when a computer is badly corrupted, it's quicker to do a complete reinstall.

By the way, the "Error 721" you've described is frequently associated with P2P file sharing programs.. If you've got such installed, it's one more reason why your problem may be related to malware.

... a image scanner installed on your computer?? Or a printer with a scanner? I've been thinking all along there could be malware associated to this, but I once saw an incorrectly installed scanner with such a message in Device Manager..

If you currently have, or previously had a scanner installed on the machine, then the "SCAN" issue is referring to incorrectly installed drivers and software for the scanner.. You'll need to completely uninstall all your scanner software, then reinstall it.
