how to use .sub and .srt files on windows media player?

I have some video files that are in foreign language and needed .sub and .srt files to watch with. How to use .sub and .srt files in windows media player. I have tried a vobsub program that doesn't really work. Any other ways to use them?

But Windows Media Player often doesn't play along so be prepared to use other players like Media Player Classic or VLCPLAYER.
