Cannot Locate the CD-ROM

I'm currently getting the above Message Box when I put in any CD to play. In the box it states "Please insert the correct CD-Rom, selct the "OK" and restart application". My OS system is Microsoft Windows XP Professional ver. 5.1.2600. I just increased the memory from 128MB to 256MB. Prior to my memory upgrade this message started to appeared three days ago. I've a CDR-W drive and that one is ok(I use this to view the CD's from). However, the main drive the CD-DVD one is the problem. I've had this computer for four year and everything else seems to be working ok. Every so often when I launch Word I get "registry edit fail message". I don't know if that's a related problem. Otherwise my computer runs fine. I purchase this computer from Value Vision it's Vprimier. I did not build it. The computer is intact.
Any assistant will be greatly appreciated.

You may have to install a fix from MS.

- What does Device Manager say about the CD/DVD? Any exclamation marks or errors?
- Did you change anything else before the error started?
- It's possible it's just gone south. Can you try it in another machine? Can you try another CD-drive in this machine?

-The Device Manager said this is working properly.
-No exlamation marks. The only error I get is when I put the in any CD. Nothing plays, ie when I put in a movie DVD the Cyberlink DVD opens up and then I get the "insert CD and click start".
-I'm currently using the second Drive.
