HP Printer 720

I have used this printer for over 10 years and it has been very good. Twice now it needs cleaning and it's not easy cleaning out the old ink left by the cartridge wipers. Does anyone know how to remove the side panel so I can do a good cleaning job? I see only one screw and nothing else so I assume it snaps off somehow. Any help would be much appreciated.

Snaps and whatnots

I haven't taken one apart in awhile. Words may fail me here but most have the locking slots and tangs. The tangs slips(in or over) into the slot and it snaps back into place. This is not an easy unlocking item to do even after doing it for awhile. Remove top cover and check for side covers and find small plastic tang(finger) and bend it back abit and wiggle cover apart. Repeat for other side. There maybe 1 or 2 torx screws to finalize any assembly, remove and place aside. Be careful of the frt. panel ribbon cable, don't rip it out or such, use care and observe it.

That is the approach I took and I too found it very difficult. Since the printer is now working properly I'll leave it and will try your instructions next time the printing is bad.

Thanks for your idea, unfortunately HP doesn't want to reveal any of their secrets as to how to open up the printer for a full cleaning. I do however would seriously consider another HP product when this one is beyond repair as I feel it is the better choice.
