recover damage files XP sp2
by LauderdaleBob11 - 7/28/06 6:31 AM
I run Windows XP with SP2 & all updqates, 2 hard drives with prgrams on c: & data/working files on E: Both drives were formatted in NTFS
Recently I was having a lot of problems with slow running & then started having a lot of system hanging, & the whole computer reached the point where it would not boot. Thankfully I had all of my important stuff backed up on a removeable drive from C: drive. However, there were some files on E: that had not been backed up.
AS a result of this, I did a reformat of the C: drive & reinstalled all my programs. Now the computer works very well when operating off the C: drive but still slow on the E: drive.
I performed a defrag on the E: drive without anything changing, however I noticed that some of the files were no longer showing as being on the drive.
A further defrag analyse showed the files that were not defragging, & I then did a further defrag the following read out shows the result.
The files shown in the list of being unable to be defragged are important files for me, & I would like to recover them if possible.
I sense that that the problem that I am still having is caused by these fragmented files. Once recovered I can then reformat the drive & get back to some sort of normality.
I have tried the "Stellar Phoenix Deleted File Recovery" program, & it finds the files, but will not recover them.
Can anyone help please
