How,or why will a network connection keep chaging?

Hi,
I hope I can find the answer though you,I can not from IE, or my ISP.

As of aug.8th of this year itwill be 3yr.s that this has been happening. I have to go though network connetions,& reset it then go to internet options, & take out the check mark for using dialing rules, reset the right DNS #s, & take out a 16 carater password that I don't know, before I can get on the internet. Sometimes I can be reading my email, & when I go to the next one it throws "can not find server",& I have to go though the same rutine again.
Sometime after I've all this when the window starts to open the bar showing the loading will spot hafe way, & know I have to go to internet options & take the dialins rules check mark & reset again for it to complete.

If anyone can help Please Do! After 3yr's I'm tired!

Sounds a lot like malware

I would say it sounds a lot like you've picked up some sort of dialer malware program that's messing with your settings to try and get you to dial some toll number. It being malware and all, the quality of the program tends to make Microsoft look like a gold standard for all others to be compared to. The fact that you use Internet Explorer only increases the likelihood of this scenario.

What, if anything, do you to do combat malware and other annoyances such as viruses/worms/trojans? Further, do you keep current of all security patches issued by Microsoft for Windows and related programs?

Hi, Mike,
If so it is comming from microsoft. I have descurubed my c drive twice, & when I get updates from micro. that's when the trouble start's.
This happened right after auto-updates downloaded service pack 2.
Now yesterday after updates completed, the next morning when I turned on the computer all that came up was the desktop,(no icon's),& the arrow. So again today I descurubed my drive, & starting puting in programs. Everyting was fine until I downloaded windows player, then the problem started again.

I don't know but it could be something I'm overlooking, or doing wrong when I download window's.
