Computer help forum: Importing .pst (Microsoft Outlook mail file) into Outlook 6

I ask because Outlook (does use PST files) is not the same as Outlook Express (does not use PST files but can import from them) despite similar names. There isn't an Outlook 6 (Outlook 97, 98, 2000, XP, 2003 yes but Outlook 6 NO!). Click the Help menu of the email program and the About selection will tell which you have (as will the splash screen when it starts up).

If you meant Outlook Express 6, then the following should work.

1. Copy the PST file to your hard drive.
2. Right click on it and select Properties.
3. If the Properties dialog has Read Only checked, UNCHECK IT.
4. Click OK button (whether it was checked or you had to uncheck it)
5. Start Outlook Express
6. Click on File menu then select Import then Messages
7. Scroll the next window to Microsoft Outlook and select it
8. Click Next then either All Folders or Selected Folders (If choosing Selected Folders Hold down the CTRL key and click once on each folder you want to import)
9. When selection is complete click Next and continue following prompts.
