Sometimes one of them has better deals and prices than the other. I like both Newegg and Tigerdirect.
NewEgg + comparison sites
If I have to go blindly to ONE SITE ONLY for my computer parts, it's NewEgg for prices and shipping. No contest. I have purchased from TigerDirect only when the price was right--good experiences, though.
These days, I never make a purchase without going to a price comparison site like PriceGrabber.com or Shopping.com.
Never did business with newegg, but I hear great things about them.. As for tiger direct... If you consider shopping there, you might as well save yourself the trouble and just flush your $$ down the toilet.. It's the same thing. I bought a defective dfi board from them.. no posty, no lighty, no beepy, no nutthin. The rma went through okay, still haven't seen the money, but it's only been a few days.. Liar direct said they would re-imburse me the shipping costs... BIG LIE ! They took me for 20 bux, maybe more if they neglect to credit my account the price of the broken board. Meanwhile, I ordered, received, installed, and am using , a cheap asrock board that I got from mwave. Tiger direct broke my cherry..
I've ordered and received countless items over the net, and this is the 1st time I got burned. I pray Apple Computer wipes the courtroom floor with tiger direct and its' frivolous lawsuit.
Your remarks are humerous. Change to Newegg. I have delt with them for years. Good company to order from and trust. Newegg exchanged a ViewSonic monitor for me that was defective.
Newegg is a great company. Great service and has great customer support that you can talk to.
Last order from them was last month. A Canon SD500 and a Sandisk SD 1Gig SD card. Fast shipping also. Nice!
(NT) (NT) Basically their the same
In other words....
Don't expect too much from any place you can get a discount. Their behavior is discounted, too.
I have spent more money at newegg!!!
Newegg is best!!!
They have never let me down though. Best price, fast shipping, perfect customer service, what else I can say?
They don't ship outside of the U.S. I'm only a two-hour drive from the U.S. border in Canada, and they're useless to me.
I have tried contacting them to try to make special arrangements to buy an item.
They simply responded that they don't ship outside of the U.S.
Obviously they have horrible customer service. They treat you like dirt even when it means the difference between making the sale or not.
Avoid NewEgg. Use much more reliable services like NCIX.
More about NCIX

NCIX will match competitors' prices.
So will everyone else. They want your money and if they can they will.
For your consideration. I mean no offense when I say this, however your comment sounds much like that of my 16 son. You cannot judge a company because they can't ship to your country of choice. Often times they cannot dictate where they send their product due to customs or due to contractual agreements with the manufacturers. Perhaps your perspective would best be utilized if there were a thread that read "NCIX or CDW".
I read in tigerdirect users opinion, where is my rebate
I bought from tiger and newegg but bought more from newegg...
I have had great experience with Newegg's service. I recently had to return an Asrock motherboard wich within the week they emailed me saying that they did not carry it anymore and if i would like a check sent for a full refund and within the next week here came an envelope with newegg's name on it and guess waht was inside, a check with the full refund om it . I have also heard some prety bad stories from reliable sources about Tiger Direct
When considering a vendor for hardware and software there are many considerations. The first one being that everyone who reads these threads have some opinion based on experience. The one who have bad comments are posting based entirly on that experince. They may have had 1000 successful purchases with either vendor and one bad one that screwed the pooch. Come up with your opinions on your own. Base it on your own experience. Buy small items from them and see each ones turnaround, Customer Service, and follow up. AND PRICE!
If I had a personal opinion I would prefer NewEgg based on their shipping (often times free), customer service, and price. Beyond that I would go with CDW or PC Connection. They are the two largest resellers in the US and have large warehouses. Why would the warehouse be important? If they have a larger warehouse they can buy more. The more they buy the better price they get and they pass that on to the customer. Each sales person gets paid on commision but its a small commision. They depend alot on return business so they would strive to get you the best possible solution. My PC Connection rep jumps through hoops for me and I love him for it. Even if he messes up an order, he admits it and helps me with a solution. Theres my soapbox statement. Take of it what you will. Good luck Friend.

Let's Me tell you about TigerDirect & NewEgg!
From my Personal Dealings with both NewEgg & TigerDirect.
NewEgg is the best & TigerDirect doesn't care about their customers.
Here's what happened to me:
Last Oct I decided to build a new PC for myself basically I wanted something that could run any game, edit my home videos and not break my pocketbook.
So I've always heard good things about TigerDirect & bought my HDD & PSU from them. I got a 500 watt Ultra Xconnect for $59 with a $30 rebate. I could have gotten it from another online company that I was ordering from for $35 with out the rebate but $29 was the cheapest. So after I reveiwed my receipt I noticed they had charged me $69 not $59 for the PSU. I doubled checked the advertized price was and still stated $59. So I was a little mad about my $10. I emailed them and clearly expained my problem. Here's a copy of response:
Dear Valued Customer
Thank you for your email,
Records indicate that this item has a mail in rebate. If you have further questions or concerns, please respond to this email.
So I emailed them yet again, I apoloized for not being clear enough even though I knew I was very clear. I also explained I knew about the rebate & this had nothing to do with it that. Well this time I got:
Dear Valued Customer
Thank you for your email,
We will do a price match on the item, however the price match amount is for store credit only. If you have further questions or concerns, please respond to this email.
Store credit! I want it charged back to my credit card. Well I emailed TigerDirect again about it in Nov and I have yet to hear from them or receive a store credit.
My 2nd Dealing with TigerDirect.
My oldest Daughter wanted an MP3 player for Christmas and this year. She was doubting Santa was real so I really wanted to get her something she didn't ask me for and only Santa would know to get her. But money was tight & I had only 9 days to gets it when I did get the money. So I found a refurbished Rio Sport for $45 on Tiger and order it with express shipping so it would get here in 3 days. Here comes the Monday before and it still hadn't been shipped. So I called this time, the person was very nice but knew I was calling for an MP3 player before I even said it. They informed me is was out of stock and it would be a while. Well thanks for telling me. Well this did it. My daughter didn't get a MP3 Player from Santa because they screwed me around. I swore after that I would never Ever Buy for TigerDirect Again & They can keep my $10!
Now for NewEgg.com I ended up buying my MotherBoard from them it got here Super fast & it was packaged just like new even thought it was refurbished. Shipping was a huge factor. Some places delayed shipping to me because I was in the "Hurricane Zone." I might not of had a whole roof, cell service, running water or power but I could get snail mail the day after Katrina. So by Mid Oct it was not logical for them to be delaying shipping to my area. I love the area right below the items where people can leave their comments about the products. That really is the deciding factor in almost all my purchases even if I buying from some place else. They also make searching for an item really easy also.
So after my husband threw his PC on the ground 5 times in Jan. You got to atleast admire him for doing what we have wanted to do at one time or another. I was not happy about it but I salavaged what I could (the CPU.) I ordered twice a few items from NewEgg. Yet again, it was here in no time flat and everything was great.
Last month my Video Card blew (it was used from ebay)and I order a new one from Newegg at 2pm on a Tuesday. I thought I had made a mistake about the cause of my problem and jumped the gun. So I called them back 2 hours later to cancel the order. Well they had shipped it already! The lady I talked with was so nice and understanding. She told me how to get a full refund even though it was already on it's way. BTW it was the video card after all so I never needed to return it.
I've dealt with quite a few online companies in the last few months. Most are average but these 2 companies are at the top and bottom of my list for computer parts. NewEgg is the best & Tiger is the worst. I honestly don't care if anymore if a company is a few dollars more on some items. I will pay the extra money as long as I know I will get good customer service, fast cheap shipping & the item I wanted.
i built my computer thru parts just from tigerdirect. I would say that's it is a grade A+ site.
"resellerratings.com" for more comprehensive review
Just go to "resellerratings.com" and decide for yourself. Each has it's own pros and cons. For me I haven't had problems with Tiger Direct. Haven't ordered from Newegg yet but a co-worker of mine did and he wasn't happy with the packaging.
I have ordered from both. Had problems with products from both. Products from New Egg tend to come with no instructions of any kind whatsoever.
On last external drive, purchased from Office Max, I couldnt tell when or if, the cd should be inserted into my computer, as there were no instructions included. So, problem maybe manufacturer not reseller.
That said, I have had excellent service on returns to both and have done repeat business with both and would again.
Neither New Egg, nor Tiger Direct supply support. They refer back to manufacturer.
I have ordered from both companies. Virtually the same items. I found that NewEgg got things to me days earlier than expected in every case. Tiger Direct either got there on the last day of the promise window or later. Returns were more difficult with TigerDirect than with NewEgg.
is by far the better and cheaper choice.
Tigerdirect has one of the best deals because of their mail and rebates.
But from my past experience, their rebates suck. Their rebate forms are very very long and it is very tedious. If you do happen to be able to finish it and send it in, it is very likely that Tigerdirect will send you a letter stating that you cannot get your rebate for giving wrong information or you just happen to have forgotten to fill something out and the sad thing is, is that you cannot send in another rebate. But if you are lucky enough to get your money back. You will not get your money back for a very long time.
P.S. take a look at this rebate. http://static.tigerdirect.com/rebates/XFX-5352.pdf
and compare it to Newegg's rebate.
these rebates are related to the same product.
Does Not Matter Most Of The Time
I use whovever has the cheapest total price, unless I need it fast, then I use Newwegg.
TigerDirect / Corsair rebate denied for time zone difference
I'm in CA and building a new computer. I shop on line and find TigerDirect has Corsair memory I want with $40 rebate. I must "order by midnight 4/30/08. I hate rebates, but ordered 4 gig at 10pm on 4/30/08 from California. Worldwide Rebates denied the claim because the receipt from TigerDirect posts time and date as 1AM on 5/1/08. Obviously, my order would be received at that time in say New York or New Jersey because of the time zone difference. My email confirmation came immediately and shows the 10PM 4/30/08 order date. TigerDirect's receipt is printed 1AM 5/1/08. I'm screwed. TigerDirect won't answer my email. Neither will Worldwide Rebates. Both can read the times and receipts as well as me but are doing their job of denying as many rebates as possible. Rebates/packing issues/customer service. Tigerdirect-it's almost always something.
