What does wwwb. mean? Is it a scam site?

Hi. I searched google before coming here and all google kept asking me was "Did you mean www.?"

I went online to pay my comcast bill today. I typed in comcast.net and what came up was the usual http:// and then wwwb<<<(note the letter 'b') and then .comcast.net. I've had way too many pfishing emails from Paypal and Wells Fargo scammers that mirror legit sites, so I immediately shut down the page and contacted Comcast. Even they had never heard of the "b" and reported it to their tech heads (or so they say). I ended up paying the bill via the Comcast operator.

So, has anyone else seen this or know what it is? I look at the address bar 100% of the time, to make sure I've got the right site and and "s" follows the https when I'm making payments.

Websites don't have to follow any convention on this. It's only done for us humans.

I've seen this before but can't recall where.

Why not add something like Web Of Trust to your browser?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWW2 tells why a numeric addition can be used. Just a convention.

But the subdomain can be used for related, but different sites also. Just have a look at (sorry, it's Dutch, so you won't understand it maybe, but you'll see the difference):
http://www.leisb.org
http://oew.leisb.org
http://jc.leisb.org

So why not wwb?
