hp pavillion formatted & installed win7 64 now crappy

it's been slow and windows installer wouldn't allow install or removal of any software. tried to reformat & reinstall win 7, but still choking constantly and hanging even on updating windows 7. Thought maybe bad ram, but ran memtest on it and it all shows good (4 gig by way). any suggestions appreciated.

A fresh install of Windows, even version 7 needs us to find and install all the drivers and more to get the speed back up to as need.

Nothing has improved in my opinion in this area. It's just as bad as back in the days of XP and prior.
