Computer newbies forum: Sick of my bulky laptop, need MAJOR advice on new one

Suggest if you have the time, to visit any office outlet or better computer shops/centers(even Wal-Mart) and look at the "floor models".You'll get a hands-on of what you like and test it a bit. If you care to take a flash drive with sample .docs and see how it looks. Any website vendors will have the same laptops but that touch and feel makes a difference, IMO or order one once you tested locally. Any newer laptop will be a welcome sight after dealing with a 7yr. old model, so it shouldn't take long to pick one. Notice i didn't offer any model or brand, allow yourself that choice.

FYI- Cool doesn't amount to a hill of beans if you can't depend on it so get what makes your grade now and later.

Online vendor and possibility local, checkout Costco. Some of my clients liked the selection, but its the warranty they liked much more. Same laptops as elsewhere and pricing is competitive as most. Since, you're looking at so-called thin laptops many are more expensive and generally speaking any laptop that's long battery life may not come real thin, but thinner or inline with what currently out there. enjoy -----Willy

Again, I've been bending my brain looking at reviews..CNET says the HP Folio is their pick of all the midsize, I saw on gotapex.com they have an HP Envy w/ Ivy Bridge 15.6 inch screen for $887. I think 13 inch would be too small for me, but thanks for the comment. Truly appreciate it.

My Sony's faltered just once (knock on wood) in 7 years, and the one time it did, they had a serviceman at my house within a day. Anyone have comments on Acer, Samsung or Dell service? Anyone comment on experience with their Acer, Samsung, or Dell Ultra?

Also, went to best buy and think I can handle a 13" at home and office (especially on the airlines).
