Clarification request: I find...

Don't hesitate to take these back and explain they didn't work. If you recently used the DVD drive to burn other discs and they're OK, then the R/W type blanks maybe a problem. You don't need to format in most cases, but you gave little details of what drive you have and what s/w, and OS is being used. Of course, you can try this on another PC and check results,, but if you have problems right off the bat, then because they're Verbatim and R/W type, return them. You can test elsewhere if you like or use yet another brand disc. R/W discs tend to be more picky for operation, so take that into consideration. Thus, if you have an older DVD drive, it maybe showing it's age or repetitive burns done.

You Didn't Tell Us... Is Your Drive a DVD Burner?

Older CD drives don't always support DVD's. The drive MUST be a DVD burner to read and recognize DVD-RW discs.. (DVD drives will also recognize CD discs.) But if the drive is one of the older versions which only recognize and burn CD discs, then it won't read DVD's. And in some cases, there were also "combo" drives which could READ DVD discs but not burn them. The "combo" drives might not read the DVD-RW discs unless they had data burned to them on a different machine.. Let us know.

it just isn't going to work.

The good news is you can get a CD-DVD Burner $20 to $40.

Let us know how it works out.
