INFO: System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

Computer Intel ®, Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz, 2.40 GHz, 512 MB of RAM

My old computer died so a friend created this new XP computer for me. Problem -I want to print a landscape of my budget out, or any Excel spreadsheet some are newly created, some are from a thumb drive from my previous computer. Basically what I see to print now is approximately one column per page of print so 10 columns are 10 pages printed. It looks fine on screen and page set up "DOES NOT" have anything to do with it. I have always adjusted it before I print something as I don't want all the wasted space around the spreadsheet. If I try say page break it to put it all together like it should be on 1 landscape page from what it says are 30 pages I end up with all 30 pages now condensed to about the size of a 1 inch square. I can take the same info save it to a thumb drive newly created or what was on there from before and print it elsewhere and it's fine. Old ones I did not adjust saved on the drive print correctly, new ones I can adjust on Page Setup and they print fine. Something on my computer is confused but I have not heard of this and the basic answer is go to page setup but that's not it so any ideas on how to fix this?

And did you install the printer's software and drivers onto this new computer?

What about the XP install, does it have all the right drivers for this custom build?

I have no idea. I did not mention earlier the computer is not set up Ethernet it's wifi, not certain that matters. I am presuming all the regular software and correct drivers are set up as the person who formatted it for me has done this a number of times with computers.

Under the printer and faxes properties there are two printers listed with one as the default one so I believe he tested it. It looks (to me) like it should other than it has a check under ports for virtual printer port which I thought was because its wifi.

I don't know what XP install is unless you mean when he was adding all the information for the computer to work.

I thought this might be an easy fix, something I could do without having to unplug everything and take it to him. This sounds like that may not be the case though.

that printers need drivers to operate properly and without those they will either not work at all from a computer, or we get strange results like you have above.

What printer is this? Make and model please. The drivers and software may still be available from the maker's web site, but I can't check until I know.

Then it really could be a simple matter of suggesting you download the software and drivers and installing them.
