Computer newbies forum: Microsoft Outlook Email recovery

First question: did your Outlook connect to that work email via a pop3-protocol, or did it happen to be looking directly into the e-mail server at work using IMAP or the MS Exchange protocol?

If IMAP or MS Exchange, the mail never has been stored on your PC, so you can't recover it.
If pop3, it's downloaded to the inbox of your PC, you deleted it to the Deleted items folder and then deleted it from there a year ago.
That deleted items folder is in a .pst file in your PC. If you happened to compact your .pst file during the last year, that mail is surely gone. If you didn't there is a possibility that a recovery program still can find it.

So please tell more.

Exchange Server but if you deleted it from your Deleted Items folder in Outlook it is gone as Outlook will automatically compress its database which removed marked deletions. How often this compression takes place is dependent of several factors so there is a small chance that your specific message might still be there in the deleted Items folder of your Outlook.pst file and if so this utility might be able to recover it for you. Since the Outlook messages are not actually files but simply records in a database regular file recovery software will not help in the least.

I checked with a former IT guy at my job to ask him it it would have been POP or IMAP or MS Exchange protocal and
he told me it was WEB MAIL.
