Edward, I did as you suggested and nothing has changed. However, maybe in the future it will be helpful The problem is there is no rhyme or reason as to which emails later show this message. Thank you for \your help

First, Outlook Express is not designed to hold large amounts of email messages. When you get a chance, delete those you don't need and don't save them in the "Inbox" folder. Save all messages to personal folders outside of the main Inbox, Delete Items, etc. folders..

Next, have you tried disabling your antivirus scanner temporarily to see if it's causing the issue.

Emptied the "Deleted Items" folder lately? If not, please do.

Tried setting up a new identity and moving the messages to the new identity? The act of copying them over to the new folder will frequently fix minor issues with corruption.

If the Inbox.dbx folder is corrupted, then you may need to use a third party corruption fixer. Something like DBXpress might help.

I disabled the anti-virus briefly with no luck on the emails. The deleted folder has about 18 emails and always has few emails.

I moved one of the emails to a different folder and cannot open it.

I don't understand the following: Tried setting up a new identity and moving the messages to the new identity? The act of copying them over to the new folder will frequently fix minor issues with corruption. Can you tell me just what this means I need to do? There is no way to send them to my hotmail account because there isn't an option to forward. I right click it and more it to another folder in OE but that's it.

Not all of the emails display this message. The first 5 opened fine, the next 2 display the error message, The next 4 or 6 or 7 open and then about 5 of them don't all the way down the line. The new emails come in and I am able to read them and go back to re-read them.

Also, if OE were corrupt wouldn't all the emails contain the message that OE has not yet downloaded this message?
