FOUND NEW HARDWARE

Is it possible to remove (and if so how) the annoying message (Found New Hardware, or some such) that now appears every time I start up. It's only begun since I installed equipment that allows me to convert LPs (yes, I'm that ancient) and audio cassettes to digital files. Other hardware like a printer and scanner that I installed months ago did not result in this attack! Thanks in advance for any help. confused

Clarification request: Would that hardware be a USB turntable?

If so, also provide your OS, what software (Audacity is common) and whether or not a driver for the device was installed. As well, how a USB driver is installed can be important. I've seen your issue with USB printers which didn't have the driver installation sequenced properly and continue to give "found new hardware" even though the driver is there. The need is to uninstall and reinstall in the proper sequence.

Thanks everyone. Yes, you're right, USB combo turntable/audio cassette player with Audacity software. OS is Windows XP with SP3. I installed the player using the driver CD. It just occurred to me that I'd disconnected temporarily when moving equipment from one location to another in the house. I didn't uninstall to do this but just re-connected a dew days later. No problem with anything else though. Perhaps I should uninstall now and start from scratch?

Actually, I've seen USB devices cause new hardware

to be found just by changing to a different port than it was originally plugged into and working.
