PC HDMI Problem; Intermittent Screen Blanks

by Scoop8 - 6/17/10 3:29 PM

Hello, new here. I searched for info about this problem but didn't see it posted here, apologies if I missed that happy

I have an intermittent problem when I recently connected my PC Monitor into my PC DVI? (I'm not a PC ace, I believe this is the connection that I'm using, it's a D-Sub connector that looks like a VGA input at the rear of my tower but the pin configuraton is different than the VGA). I'm using a DVI to HDMI Adapter Cable.

I'm using a dual TV/PC Monitor:
Insignia TV/PC 19 Monitor Model NS-LCD19-09. Native resolution is 1440x900 .

My PC info: Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)

Mother Bd : ASUS P7P55D-E
Processor: Intel i5 650 3.20 GHz Cache 4MB Threads: 4
Memory: OCZ 4GB DDR-3
Video Card: BFG GT 220 1 GB DDR2 NVIDIA v7.4

The Monitor screen will intermittently blank out for about 4-5 seconds and then come back on with the display unaffected and my PC is not affected, or doesn't appear to be in any way that I can see. I don't see any particular timing pattern to the screen-blanking affect. It's happened several times during the past hour, with no apparent time pattern between incidents.

Has anyone seen an issue that is similar to this?

Prior to trying the DVI/HDMI connection, I have been using the standard VGA connection with no issues.

When I installed the DVI/HDMI cable, Windows 7 detected the Monitor type as "Zoran Matrix".
