Laptop to Tv issue, playback lag!

Hi

I have just purchsed VGA + audio Combo cable to connect my laptop to my Samsung HD tv.
It connected fine, pc screen instantly shown on my tv.

But

1st i tried to stream a video and noticed it was lagging, i was using the bbc iplayer and it meant the video was out of sink with the speech.

I then played a video from my hard drive on media player and that too also lagged out of sink.

Is it my video card? Cheap cable?

And never the same thing. It can be your PC, the TV or just what you see when playing internet video. What I think will be interesting is how people will pay or how much they will pay for tech support on this one. That is, this issue is not unknown but the cures are all over the map and not repeating.

It's very possible your machine just doesn't have enough processing power to drive an HDTV. I'd try a different, preferably better, computer, and see if the same thing happened. I doubt it's the cable, but you could try a different one of them too.

I've hooked my custom built desktop to an HDTV (1080p) before over a VGA cable without any problems. It worked great. The specs on that machine are: nVidia Gforce 8200 GT GPU w/512MBs memory onboard, 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GBs 1066MHz RAM, 7200RPM HDD. I used it for streaming Netflix videos and playing home movies off the hard drive, similar to what you said.

Try another media player

Try another media player. Maybe you player is to slow, some other player use lees memory space and have beather algorithms for decoding.
