AdAware Locks Up

I have just downloaded AdAware Free Annivasary Edition and when I start a scan it locks up and keeps on running for ever! I uninstalled the software, restarted my computer, downloaded the newest version from cnet, reinstalled and it still locks up. It locks up when you start it to scan....some when in the scan...it just keeps on running.

I am running Vista with SP1,intel core 2cpu Q6600@2.4 ghz with 4gb ram.

Now what??

Many years ago I wrote what was some advice that included adaware. Recently that advice was retired and I now never offer this old software as advice.

Uninstall adaware and read Grif's advice at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?messageID=3105025

Use the new stuff.
