Change read-only files to editable

Hi,my problem is, i can't change read-only files to editable. it won't let me. I tried to uncheck the read-only box and save the change, but it still doesn't work. This file is from a server not a regular computer and I'm in win xp, the os for the server msi7.

I forgot, I'm trying to update webpages, so these files are webpages.

Sounds Like You May Not Be The Server Admin...

If that's the case, then you may not have the correct permissions to change them...But sometimes you can change those items simply by "Taking Ownership" of the files.. See the link below:

My uncle came and fixed the problem. The problem was when we reinstalled the os for the server or something like that, the settings were changed back to default(root), so i had no admin rights.

so thanks for ur help anyways

i have more questions later on
