What does Not Supported mean

Yeah I know its a duh question but this 40 plus postage and handling gal doesnt understand, when a software program says it does not support Windows 98 does that mean I cannot use it?

thanks and please no swipes at me still using 98 or my age lol

these days manufacturers are turning out programs aimed at two main markets Windows XP and Mac

if there is a program or application that you really need, you can always try your local computer store or maybe Ebay

If you try the product on w98 and you have a problem...DON'T crab at the maker.

The product may work fine or it may not...your on your own.

I use w98 and if a product doesn't say it supports this OS then I move on to a different product.

If you really,really need this product then give it a shot.

has not tried it on that platform and thus will not be responsible whether it runs or does not run on an unsupported platform.

If you buy it and it works GREAT!. If you buy it and it doesn't work don't try returning it as it was your problem and not the publisher's.

Considering that Windows 2000 and XP are fully 32 bit rather than the hybrid 16/32 bit of win 9X the OS is considerably different and the Win 9X code DOES NOT allow much coded for the full 32 bit OS to run (although if the installer allows the install it can really cause some interesting problems with an otherwise stable system.
