Computer newbies forum: I can't remove Webroot from my WindowsXP Desktop Computer

There are two ways to uninstall Spy Sweeper:



Method #1



1. Go to Start > All Programs > Webroot > Spy Sweeper > Uninstall Spy Sweeper

2. Follow the promts

OR

Method #2

1. Click Start>Control Panel.

2. Select Add/Remove Programs.

3. An alphabetical list will now populate.

4. Click on the program you wish to uninstall.

5. Click Change/Remove and follow the prompts.

hm.. if you cant unistall it and you dont want it around why not go to your program files and just delete it cuz wherever you installed it from might not have installed the uninstall i knoe that happened to me sometimes

I have Webroot Spy Sweeper install and it isn't in my control panel. When I read a post and delete is used, it makes me wonder how the uninstall was performed. You need to uninstall, not delete a program. Is that what you did? I'd recommend you start over by installing the program then uninstalling it again. Webroot Spy Sweeper can be uninstalled through its own uninstaller or the control panel's add/remove programs.

Afterm you install

Open registry cleaner

click on registry tool

click on tools

click on registry cleaner

click on start and have it scan your computer.

When finished, then remove all the green dots. They are no longer needed.

Restart your computer. See if it is still there.

If so, run these programs in the safe mode.

Welcome to the CNET forums.. Although your input is certainly appreciated, you posted to a thread which is 2 years old so I doubt if anyone will be helped by your submission. And most importantly, you provided a direct link to to a download without any real explanation.. In such situations, please provide a link to the actual page where one can download the "cleanup file" and if providing the direct link is unavoidable, please describe EXACTLY where the downloadable file is coming from and what it will do..

Clearly, instructing a "newbie" computer user to simply "Click here" is not a safe thing to do.

Permit me to suggest Revo Uninstaller Freeware download at http://www Revouninstaller.com. This uninstaller can uninstall the program and assist you in deleting all entries of the same in your registry. Just follow the instructions to the letter.

Hi I wrote to webroot support and received a return email and because so many folks are having the same issue I have, I thought I would share with everyone having an uninstall problem. I have not executed this solution yet, but suspect it will work.

I'm not sure if one of my colleagues in the Consumer Technical Support Team have got back to you with an uninstaller, but I've managed to gather the details for you.

To completely uninstall all traces of any Webroot product please follow these steps.

1. Download http://download.webroot.com/SSECleanup.exe and save it to your Desktop

2. Goto Start, Run and enter cmd

3. In the command prompt window that should open, drag the downloaded file to the cmd window, (this should populate it with the file path for you) and then add -remove and hit enter

This process will then remove all traces of the product from that machine.

l deleted webroot from my window vista home premium but it kept poping up your subscription has expired .i could not stop that even though l already uninstalled the software completely. And after months of pain one day l started my computer clicked on the little window loggo on the buttom left corner and typed in webroot on the space that poped up and it says retype the letters and number you see and i did and that finally got rid of webroot for good l was so happy lol.
