Computer newbies forum: Unneccessary Start Up Prgms

They are legitimate start up programs and should probably stay CHECKED in "msconfig".

I'm not reallly sure where you might see that in Spybot, especially since Spybot doesn't detect "Viruses". It detects spyware.

It is now at 48%, probably bc i need to scandisk/defrag (C is at 87%).

Not counting necessary prgms (ZA, Symantec), I enabled items under user's choice and unknowns. In your experience, can i disable some more items?

Some of these can likely be stopped...
You can search for these on the net and find out more about them. Read at least 2 or 3 different ideas on what they might be - some people have no clue what they are talking about.
Find the directories on your hdd where these apps originate can sometimes help you figure out what they are; at least what they belong to which helps to know if you can stop them.

-USBDetector - stopping this will probably prevent any USB devices from being detected when you plug them in.

-Saimon - never heard of this - search for it on your drive and see where it comes from.
