Computer newbies forum: how to change default hard drive from c to d

There's no such thing as a 'default drive', except that the BIOS looks in the c:-drive when looking for something it can boot from. Can you explain what you really want?

What do you mean with itunes? The program or the music files?
You can't copy a program and expect it to work. All you can do is uninstall and reinstall to a new location. If you made any non-working copies, you can safely remove them with Windows Explorer.

And you surely can delete duplicate music files with Windows Explorer. Just keep one copy to listen to in the location your music program expects them (that's somewhere in Tools>Options or equivalent, depending on the music program).

Thanks. I have read the threads you suggested and it sounds like I need to move my document folders, especially the folder containing my music over to my D: drive and then also uninstall my itunes program on the C: drive and reinstall it on the D: drive. Correct?

is to develop the discipline/procedures to ONLY install files, programs, downloads etc to the D drive.

After you move enough things from the C drive, do a defrag on that drive, if it has enough space to perform the defrag, your future use should be fine.

as long as you do not allow anything else to load onto it EXCEPT THAT even the programs that you install on the D drive will put a small amount of data/files on the C drive, however the amount is very small.

The info that they put on the boot drive are entires into .dll files etc or their own such files that are needed by Windows to find the program.
