Open a command prompt and create a folder manually. Also, try to old alt+f and such to see if a menu exists.
In the past folk posed such a question and the other methods worked which only means the right click context menu was broke. Not the drive.

Why are drivers suspect? Did you leave out some details? Again, the right click context menu has classically been trouble. That is, all it takes is a virus/trojan/malware and the menu can vanish or harbor bad things. This is a good reason to learn how to do the basics of the commands. Link supplied.

The operation could not be completed because volume is dirty. When I goto command prompt and mkdir I get the error.

Now go research how to CHKDSK in Windows 8.
