Hi, I'm asking for a friend who just got a new hp 2000 laptop, The computer seems to have a virus maybe, It is very slow and freezes constantly. I did a malwarebytes antimalware scan and found nothing, I use this on my computer and it works well. I cant help but thing it might be just the computer maybe we should return it? I'm at a loss as well as she, please help it is very frustrating. Thank you for reading:)

Last year I had a HP laptop. At 3 months I spent 8 hours on the phone and they could not resolve it. So back to HP and on return would lock up in 5 to 15 minutes. At 9 months the laptop had not been repaired and calls to HP were met with "We've done all we could."
Cut your losses on this one.

I did nothing to create my issue except use a smart phone. Later I found the laptop to lockup using external HDDs. At about 2 months I found a way to reliably lock up the machine with the stock machine and nothing but the stock OS. Plug in the smart phone and boot. It would never boot. Would stall so early that you could not get to the BIOS or anywhere. This BIOS bug extended to lockups occurring when the OS was running.
HP's excuse was they bought the BIOS and had no way to correct the flaw.
There are issues with Flash but it should not lock up. Reboot, maybe but a lockup is not a good sign.
