Why is Win 8 deleting items from desktop when clicked?

I have used Win 8 for a month and can't figure out this problem. When I click an Icon, favorite folder, or any file in file explorer on my desktop, they are being sent to my recycle bin automatically. I activated the prompt in my recycle bin properties so I would be aware of any attempted delete. I'm at a loss.

Sorry. Had to do that.

-> Just like in prior Windows there is a Default Action on clicks. Malware and more can change that.

But let's keep in mind that scanning for malware will not undo the damage. For this one, CALL MICROSOFT and get a fix. Do not pay.
