Windows 8 Volume Control

Just something small, yet frustrating - I just got a brand new PC with Windows 8, and running into a few issues. One of them, oddly enough, is at certain times the volume controls on the keyboard don't work. Other times they do. anyone else having like issues or have any thoughts?

Media controls never worked well. Not much of an excuse but it may be time to consider returning it as defective while you can.

I think it is going back tomorrow

I have 2 days left on my 15 day return policy. I think I am returning and trying another one.

I am just having too many little issues including:
1) volume issue listed above
2) issues downloading software, including from cnet, which I started a separate thread about
3) DVD/CD drive 'disappearing' in the windows explorer
4) long lag times when switching users
5) Close a youtube or Pandora site, music or sound continues for lie 15-20 seconds longer

this is a brand new dell xps i-7 3770, should not be having so many little issues.

I love cnet and was the first place I came to try to get some answers. but honestly in the 2 weeks I have had it I have installed very little, so I would waste more time trying to work through all these issues versus returning and getting a new pc

I've never seen any version of Windows that didn't take a little time to switch users.

There is a FLASH issue that sometimes is cured by turning off FLASH HARDWARE ACCELERATION but if you are expecting a perfect performance from Windows 8, then you have to remember what company you are dealing with.

Windows 8 after all this appears to be rushed out the door and now I read where some of the top folk have jumped ship.

returned machine, trying another

So I returned the one, thought I would start fresh. Just been an afternoon / evening but the new one just seems to be running better.

I think windows 8, to your point, is new, still have some items to work out. BUT I think it was more my old (new) pc as well. since I am not as familiar with windows 8 it was just hard to know what is the norm vs exception

regardless, thanks again so much for the help
