Windows 8, Metro, Desktop, I can't find and add to Chrome the "Screen Capture" app and some other apps, in Metro can't install Awesome Screenshot and some other apps.
On my Mac Lion and Windows 7 all apps available and works as expected.
Some informations about:
M$ Blog
Browsing Without Plug-ins
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2011/08/31/browsing-without-plug-ins.aspx
What? They propose to use HTML5 video instead of Flash.
But HTML5 video consumes system resources! Even on YouTube html5 is offered as an experiment!
The Chromium Blog
"developers can create and distribute apps and extensions that use plug-ins. However, platforms such as ChromeOS and Windows 8 don't support NPAPI."
http://blog.chromium.org/2012/10/smarter-npapi-installs-from-chrome-web.html
I think Goog and M$ want to gradually block access to the system level functions for independent developers. This is very danger approach. They are fully able to control what website/app to advertise on their store, so stick to people what they offer. Moreover, they can disable any website/app at any time and your website/app is gone from the M$/Goog web store, Metro screen, New Tab page, your website/app/product doesn't exist for all Windows 8 and Chrome users, in one second!
