There's a lot that's gone. Windows 7 at times bent over backwards to accomodate old apps. 8 barely apologizes.

Also, at first there were easy ways to get the old start button back. MSFT went and fixed that and one has to wonder why.

It's like "we know what's good for you" has hit new highs at MSFT. Don't even get me started about WIN 8 RT.

is easy...MS still believes "if you build it, they will come", ie. pure touch only with APPS! The whole strategy with 8 is to win app developers. If menus and legacy interfaces are available back doors, desktop and laptop users will avoid apps and that is not going to fly for the business of developers.

One has to wonder why MS is trying so hard to become #3 in touch rather than work on inventing even more futuristic interfaces (sight?) and meanwhile accommodating their legacy (3/4/xp/7) users. Does anyone really believe touch-Windows (and I don't care how many more upgrades it has in future) will overtake Android and iOS market share? If MS thinks touch will become defacto for human interaction with most devices, not only in computing, and wants to get there first, do they think Google and Apple has fallen asleep at the switch?

Did you catch how many per cent MSFT gets out of each buck for your Win 8 RT App?

OK, did you catch the fact that as it stands you can't install apps in Win 8 RT without going to MSFT?

No sale for Win 8 RT here to the developers I know. Remember, my circles are your niche app folk.
