I've been looking over the new convertibles by windows. I think I want one but can't decide. I really am going to use it for mostly school projects/papers, entertainment (Netflix, YouTube), and games. My games I want are CD downloads and I don't know if the convertibles have a CD input (Sorry, not really techy). Anyway, here are some of the things I'm looking for.

1) CD input
2) Portable
3) around $500 (I could stretch if its really good model)
4) Word or something to write papers and projects with
5) Speed (on the Internet and games)
6) Fair battery life
7) Im fairly clumsy, it needs to be a little tuff
I'm really liking all of the new Windows products and would like one, but just want a good computer

The new Windows 8 RT convertibles are not going to run your CD download games. PERIOD. I guess some folk want the longer explanation but this one has been done so let's call it done and move on.

The Windows 8 Pro is turning out to run less apps than expected as old app support is reduced. The direction is not only the interface but tossing out old stuff that is a security risk.

Try this. List the units you found to meet your 7 criteria and see what folk think.
