Vista to 8

I try to keep this machine clean regularly running SAS, MBAM, etc.. There may be some weird leftover entries in the system registry and whatnot. Do I need to get this stuff squeaky clean before I lay Windows 8 on it?

Clarification request: Bootsafe won't work?

What I'm mainly concerned with now is the the compatibility assistant says that the firmware on the HP a6120n with four gigs of ram, won't support Bootsafe. That I understand is one strongpoint of W 8 that I'd like to have. Some folks say that it'll still install, but there must be a way to enable Bootsafe.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgraded to windows 8. The 40 dollar version you download online. Bought through advisor program (yes legally happy ).
I couldn't do a fresh install on another partition because I was not gpt and was mbr. But I was allowed to upgrade over my existing windows 7.

Maybe a fresh install would of been snappier. But on top was good. Not bad. You get used to it. All my files and settings were there for the most part. But def not fast. Very slow. Not fast boot and always blue light hollow circling.

So if you can please backup and fresh install. You'll be glad you did.
