my acer wont shut down, i have take charger cable out disconect battery, i have put my finger on start button up to o=two minutes still dont turn off, my settings are correct in power options, any help out there, thanks

Sadly sounds defective.

I have to guess the start button is the power button. If that does not start or stop the power in 4 or so seconds you have a defective machine. Hope it's in warranty as this would be a motherboard swap.
