Help Restoring Acer Veriton M460 to Factory Settings

Hi,

At work we have an Acer Veriton M640, on Windows XP Professional.

We need to restore it back to factory settings, but we do not have any recovery disks, or any back ups.

It DOES have Acer eRecovery Management, but that is requiring a password. This was set up by someone years ago, we don't know who and we don't know the password.

I have tried no password, tried the default (000000), and tried a number of common passwords.

I have read multiple threads about the hidden partition PQService. I have used Hirens Boot CD to unhide that partition, but the file that should be there (AIMDRS.DAT) is not there at all, either in the root directory or any of it's folders. I have set the folder options to view hidden files, and unchecked the 'hide system files' box, to no avail.

I would really appreciate some help, if anyone knows what to do.

The first thing to do would be to contact Acer Customer support and ask them if they still sell the recovery disks, or if they know how to run from that hidden partition.

Please ignore this, resolved the issue.

Solution for others having the same issue:

Restart the computer. As it's booting up, hold ALT and tap F10 (press it few times to be sure).

Follow the steps to restore to factory settings. No password needed.
