Keypad or touchpad?

Since you mentioned a mouse I have to guess you meant the touchpad. On some models (there is no standard here) the touchpad can be disabled in many places (BIOS, an utility or a FnKey) so you get to know your machine to turn it back on.

In my laptop I have it set to disable the touchpad when I use a mouse.

It is a laptop model acer aspire 5520 running vista thanks

There are some dozen 5520 models.

As such, even if I found the manual about one, I can't be sure it would apply. Supply a link to the product manual that includes content about the touchpad (are we talking about the touchpad?)

Then I'll look it over and point out the page number to check settings.
