Hi Bob,

Thanks for your reply. Please trust me when I say that I HAVE Googled this, a lot. I have had experience with installing XP on a SATA drive. Normally I slipstream the drivers into the install before hand, but that hasn't worked this time. I was hoping that somebody with this machine (REVO R3700) has had success with this and could share their experiences.

I am also aware that xp won't make my CPU carry out it's cycles per second any faster. My reason for trying this is to see whether a less memory / graphic hungry operating system would have any effect on a Adobe AIR based application interfacing with an HD Webcam.

So if anyone has had experience with this, any advice you could offer would be great.

If this machine does not have drivers for SATA then it's a dead end.

I see no links to the maker's support so my only new idea is to ask the maker. Here's an example from HP on such a call.

Hopefully they know how.

In closing, this is not a classic support site. That is I hope members will pitch in with links and details since they have such handy. I did not find this model's support page after 2 tries but my bet is you could supply it.

Specifically I am looking for either the BIOS setting to emulate IDE as well as a driver page.

WinXP-CD installed with no problems, just had to find XP-drivers which you will not find on the Acer-support-site.
