Acer Aspire SA 10 Desktop, Mouse & Keyboard not functioning

Hi,
I just plugged in a another (2nd hand) Acer Screen,
USB Mouse and keyboard into our Acer Sa10 tower we got to replace what we lost in the Margaret River, Western Australia Bushfires - (escaped with the tower only)
1/ The mouse on the screen appears to be stuck
2/ The keyboard is not functioning
3/ The monitor screen is on the blue Windows XP Professional view with no desktop showing.
Can someone please assist me to move past this stage.

Some old XP machines can't use USB mice.

The clue is the XP Pro. I've encountered this issue so try the PS2 keyboard and mouse as well as all ports.
